Falkland Island WarTime Line



April 2 1982:    Argentine forces invade Falkland Islands.

April 3 1982:    Invasion condemned by UN Security Council.

April 5 1982:    British task force set sail.

April 25 1982:  Royal Marines retook South Georgia/

April 30 1982:  The Task force arrived at the 300 mile exclusion zone.

May 1  1982:     Argentine aircraft attack. 

May 2  1982:     HMS Conqueror attacked and sunk the Argentine cruiser General Belgrano

May 4 1982:      HMS Sheffield abandoned after being attacked by aircraft

May 19 1982:   22 British servicemen killed when helicopter ditches in the sea.

May 21 1982:   British landings begin at San Carlos.
                          HMS Ardent sunk by Argentine aircraft
                         15 Argentine aircraft shot down.

May 24 1982:   HMS Antelope abandoned after bomb detonates

May 25 1982:   HMS Coventry sunk by Argentine aircraft.

May 28 1982:   Battle of Goose Green began.

May 29 1982:   Battle of Goose ended Green.

June 8  1982:  British soldiers killed in attacks on  RFA Sir Galahad and RFA Sir Tristram

June 11 1982: to 12th British forces take Mount Longdon, Two Sisters and Mount Harriet.  

June 12 1982: British destroyer HMS Glamorgan badly damaged in missile attack.

June 14 1982: British forces take Argentine positions  overlooking Port Stanley.

June 14 1982: Argentine surrenders.
